Lh&r The Castle Hotel

Conwy, Reino Unido

There has been a hotel at this location since the 14th Century and stands on the site of a Cistercian Abbey. In its current form, the hotel was a coaching inn and used to consist of two famous hostelries, the Castle and the 15th Century King s Head. The existing Castle Hotel was by far the larger and at the turn of the 19th Century had an attractive face lift of local granite and Ruabon brick and is now one of Conwy s most photographed buildings. The Hotel has a fascinating past and has made an important contribution to Conwy s history, playing host to many famous people, such as Telford, Stephenson, Wordsworth and the Queen of Romania who lunched in the restaurant whilst visiting Llandudno. The Hotel s owners since 2000, have been the Lavin family along with their friend and partner, Graham Tinsley, an award winning chef and current manager of the Welsh Culinary Team. Peter Lavin and Graham have worked together for around 20 years and their philosophy has always been to serve good food! Fabulous local Welsh produce is always served with a flair and friendliness befitting their by-line, Friendly Tradition in Historical Surroundings
